Everyone interested in advanced scientific development and obtaining a doctoral degree is invited to cooperate with independent researchers from the Department of Thermal Sciences. Our professors belong to the scientific discipline of environmental engineering, mining and energy of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology, anddoctoral theses are carried out within this discipline. Additional information on the Doctoral School, formal requirements, criteria and dates of current recruitment can be found on the website of the Doctoral School of Wrocław University of Science and Technology.

We encourage you to contact our Professors directly to obtain information about the possibilities of cooperation and scientific development!

Artur Andruszkiewicz, PhD DSc, Assoc. Prof.
Division of Energy Metering
artur.andruszkiewicz@pwr.edu.pl

Scientific interests focus mainly on three areas: Study of two-phase flows: liquid-gas (liquid metal-gas) using ultrasonic methods. horizontal ultrasonic echo method; Influence of flow disturbances on metrological properties of various types of flow meters; The use of statistical methods to analyze the operation of venturi flow meters.

Bogusław Białko, PhD DSc, Assoc. Prof.
Division of Refrigeration and Heat Pumps
boguslaw.bialko@pwr.edu.pl

In his research work, he deals with the possibilities of obtaining and using low-temperature heat, improving the efficiency coefficients of heat pumps and solar energy conversion systems and their integration in heating and air conditioning systems. The possibility of carrying out doctoral theses is related to the basic research of thermal and flow processes used in the field of environmental engineering, mining and energy as well as the development of modern methods of heat transport, e.g. through the use of phase change materials used in intermediate fluids. The conducted works will be based on a combination of the theoretical description of the analyzed phenomena with experimental research.

Prof. Zbigniew Królicki
Division of Refrigeration and Heat Pumps
zbigniew.krolicki@pwr.edu.pl

The area of interest and scientific work are the processes of multiphase refrigerant flows, with particular emphasis on throttling and boiling processes in reduced pressure, heat pumps, ground heat exchangers, thermosiphon heat pipes, the use of nanoparticles to modify the properties of heat carriers.

Arkadiusz Świerczok, PhD DSc, Assoc. Prof.
Division of Sustainable Energy Technologies
arkadiusz.swierczok@pwr.edu.pl

Bartosz Zajączkowski, PhD DSc, Assoc. Prof.
Division of Refrigeration and Heat Pumps
bartosz.zajaczkowski@pwr.edu.pl

Research interests include thermal and mechanical issues, especially in the field of energy, environmental engineering and refrigeration. The issues discussed include basic research of phenomena found in modern energy, cooling and heating technologies, e.g. phase transitions under low pressure conditions, the use of nanomaterials to increase the possibilities of physical and thermal working factors, etc. He specializes in modeling complex systems using modern simulation tools and programming (Python) based on systems of differential balance equations.
