Eighteen more individuals have joined the ranks of the Academia Professorum Iuniorum. This year, the body, established to support young habilitated doctors engaged in innovative topics and forming new research teams, has reached its full complement.
The Academia Professorum Iuniorum was established in October 2023 by Rector Prof. Arkadiusz Wójs. It is a key element of our university's efforts to promote scientific excellence. Its primary mission is to identify and support the development of a group of outstanding young independent researchers representing various disciplines, who are either building research teams or exploring new research topics.
For the 2025-2027 term, the Academia Professorum Iuniorum includes Bartosz Zajączkowski, PhD, DSc, Assoc. Prof. from the Department of Thermal Sciences.
In his research, he focuses on fundamental studies of thermal and mechanical processes, with particular attention to phase transitions and multiphase flows. The results obtained are applicable in thermal engineering, energy, and refrigeration technology. His current research projects address phase transitions under subatmospheric conditions and the use of nanoparticles to enhance the thermal and physical properties of working fluids and heating surfaces.
He heads the Department of Thermal Engineering. Prof. Zajączkowski is a recipient of research grants from the National Science Centre: Opus and Preludium Bis. He has gained experience during international research internships in Norway, Japan, the Netherlands, and the United States. He was a member of two international research networks under COST and currently collaborates with scientific teams from Lyon, Paris, Castellón, and Dresden. He supervises five doctoral students, three have already earned their doctorates.
The term of the eighteen newly appointed members will begin on January 1, 2025, and last two years. Including the eighteen researchers selected in 2023, the total number of academy members has now reached its target of 36. In 2023, Prof. Piotr Kolasiński from the Department of Thermodynamics and Renewable Energy Sources was among the inaugural members.
Information about all selected members of the Academia can be found in the news section on the Wrocław University of Science and Technology website. The regulations, member list, and other details are available on the Science Department website.
