Starting in October, two new doctoral students will be pursuing their doctoral thesis in the Department of Thermal Sciences: Ms Gabriela Bęben, MSc, and Mr Karol Nycz, MSc.
Ms Gabriela Bęben, MSc, will start her PhD studies at the Doctoral School of the Wrocław
University of Science and Technology in October. She will carry out her dissertation
in cooperation with Bartosz Zajączkowski, PhD, DSc, Assoc. Prof.
As a member of the Division of Refrigeration and Heat Pumps, she will investigate
the effect of changing heat transfer parameters by means of an in-situ developed
nanoparticle coating on the heating surfaces of heat exchangers. She will
carry out her research within the National Science Centre Preludium Bis grant.
Karol Nycz, MSc, will pursue his doctoral thesis in cooperation with
Arkadiusz Świerczok, PhD, DSc, Assoc. Prof. He will focus on the development
of an intelligent control system for electrostatic precipitators used in the power
industry for the dedusting of fossil fuel flue gases. Artificial intelligence
and machine learning techniques will be used for this purpose. Dust for mankind
is an increasing problem in everyday life, reducing its emissions as efficiently
as possible is very important for our health.
