On June 8-9th the Endress+Hauser conference entitled: "Power sector transformation and the resulting challenge for measuring and control equipment" was held in Tarnowo Podgórne. The conference was held under the program patronage of Artur Andruszkiewicz, PhD DSc, Assoc. Prof. from the Department of Thermal Sciences. At the same time, representing the Division of Energy Metering, a paper/lecture entitled: "Analysis of the technical condition of an orifice plate on the distribution of values of measured differential pressures" was presented.
The topic of the paper/lecture was the effect of operational wear of the orifice plate on the differential pressure distribution. In the case of changes in edge sharpness, changes in inflow surface roughness, or material loss in the plate, the measured differential pressure distribution deviates from the normal distribution. This causes a change in the value of the flow coefficient, which increases the measurement error of the measured medium flow rate. The paper additionally presents the influence of the reverse installation of the orifice in the pipeline on the value of the measured fluid flux in the case of measurements performed with the twin orifice plate or ISA orifice plate with a near-plate pressure measurement.
